2024 Family Camp – May 24-26

I remember my very first Family Camp Meeting. It began on August 7, 1988, and it was at Restoration Acres at the Hillsboro Family Camp in Ohio. That was a Sunday evening, and the Lawshe Church of Christ, where I was preaching, dismissed services so we could go up and hear one of my favorite professors preach.

And preach he did! A wonderful sermon entitled: The Judgment of the Nations. Little did any one know, that this would be the last sermon that Roger Chambers would preach. The next day, while I was setting up the preacher’s camper (a tent), word came around that they had taken Dr. Chambers to the hospital. He died that afternoon.

But the camp meeting went on . . . And the very first sermon, that Monday evening . . . WOW . . . Raymond Bennett entitled: The Lukewarm Church! And since that date, I have tried to attend as many Family Camps as I can work into my schedule.

When I moved to Illinois, I had a strong desire to start a camp meeting over here. The churches needed a family camp like I have experienced. So in 2011 Gary Baker and Hanging Rock Christian Assembly gave me that opportunity. What a great weekend it ended up being! Wonderful speakers and music! In 2017 we held our seventh meeting at Prairie States Christian Camp in Watseka, IL.

Even though I moved to Florida in 2021, Restoration Plea Ministries and Prairie States Christian Camp intend to keep the camp meeting going! Plans are currently underway for the 2022 meeting. It is scheduled for May 27-29th! Prairie States Christian Camp have been fantastic hosts, and we look forward to meeting there again in 2022!  Lord willing I will see you there!
